Cynthia Jewell Pollett

Cynthia Pollett, a native of Aiken, South Carolina, has painted professionally for 29 years.
Cynthia enjoys working in all media,
including oil, acrylic, watercolor and color pencil. She is a member of the Florence Artist Guild, Florence Museum and Charleston Artist Guild.
Cynthia has a BFA from Atlanta College of Art,
Atlanta, Ga. She has participated in many art shows over the years and has been invited for a solo show at the Florence Museum and Linda English Gallery.
While she remembers winning her firs
t art competition at the young age of twelve, Cynthia cannot recall when it all began. What early memories she does have of her creativity take place in the woods behind her home where she began her first drawings and paintings.
Cynthia’s pieces - impressionistic and textured - are built from a singular wealth, the Glory of God. The creative nature - is not only a prerequisite for finding the extraordinary in something ordinary since for Cynthia, behind even the tiniest thing lies the sublime nature of God. For her, His Glory is everywhere. She cannot avoid painting it. Her Biblical world view allows her to see the message of God in everything and it is this message that strengthens her work. For Cynthia, rather than paint images, she paints visions.
While her work is strongly rooted in her Christian faith, it is not exclusive to those who share a similar world view. Cynthia is classically-trained and her technical ability can be appreciated by anyone with an interest in visual art. Regardless of the artist’s intentions, one of the most appealing things about a finished work is the multiple meanings that can be taken from it and she is appreciative of other insights.
Color is very important to her. If her strokes supply some sort of constant, then it is the color that varies. For Cynthia, color is not necessarily determined by how something truly exists in nature or how it appears to the human eye, but rather how she feels or how she wants the viewer to feel when he or she looks upon the piece.
For the past 10 years, Cynthia has owned a successful graphic design business that she started and built from the ground up. While graphic design allowed her to use her creativity, her love of painting has always been the desire of her heart.
Since 2006, Cynthia has been glad to return to painting full time.
